Empowering you to make changes and
restore balance to your life
Time Line Therapy ™
Time Line Therapy ™ (TLT) is a powerful therapeutic model that enables you to take back control of your life by freeing you from negative emotions and limiting beliefs. Once released, the process empowers you to create new beliefs that will empower you and help you move towards a more fulfilling life.
Developed by Tad James, PhD in the 1980s, TLT evolved from blending Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, and Cognitive Behavioural concepts. It is based on the premise that your self-perception, beliefs, and behaviours stem from everything you've learned and experienced in life, including how you look at those experiences.
Your "time line" is a complete collection of your memories, stored in a linear manner in an internal memory storage system, similar to a mental photo album. It is believed to play a significant role in your personality - after all, it includes all your happy memories, sad memories, fears, self-doubts, and other limiting beliefs. Although many of those memories may have been long forgotten - or pushed away because remembering them is far too painful - they are stored permanently in our brain.
TLT doesn't attempt to eliminate any of those memories - not even the ones that have caused significant pain. Rather, it enables you to release, once and for all, the troubling emotions and limiting beliefs connected to your past so that you can move on with your life, no longer encumbered by them. By intervening in your time line at the unconscious level, TLT can help you make positive changes in your life that you may have previous believed were impossible.
As a process for deep, lasting, permanent personal transformation, TLT enables you to learn from the past events that may have been haunting you for years or even decades. Since lasting behavioural changes occur at the unconscious, rather than the conscious, level, TLT works by bringing about change at the unconscious level. Once you have released the inappropriate, unhelpful "programming", you'll find that you no longer react to the challenges you encounter today with the negative emotions connected to your past.
Mind-Body Medicine and Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) studies explain the effects of unresolved negative emotions and how they affect the physical health - leading to the development of symptoms and illness in the physical body. Furthermore, the way in which you perceive a stressful situation; the intensity you experience that stress; and the way in which you respond to stress is influenced by your unresolved emotional issues. Many people find relaxation, meditation, and yoga etc. useful to deal with stress and often feel better in the short term. However, unresolved negative emotions tend to counteract those benefits in the long term. Clearing the negative emotions from the past significantly enhances the practice of these techniques in maintaining mind-body health.
One of the many advantages of TLT is that it enables you to release and clear all gestalts (chains) of an emotion at once, rather than one at a time as do most other emotional release techniques. For example, if you experience anger issues, TLT facilitates the releasing and clearing of all anger from the past and not just the anger attached to a particular event. In other words, your anger is released from its roots, which results in quick and lasting results. Other examples of troubling emotions you may wish to release are: sadness, hurt, rage, regret, fear, guilt, remorse, abandonment, and rejection.
Both unwanted negative emotions and limiting beliefs influence every aspect of your life. Not only is TLT invaluable in enabling you to resolve negative emotional issues from the past, but also help you to clear limiting beliefs and decisions that may be preventing you from moving forward and creating what you want in your life. For example, you may have a limiting belief that, "I don't deserve it" or "I'm just not good enough."
TLT can be effectively used to treat anxiety, panic, phobias, fears, trauma, PTSD, depression, low self-esteem, lack of self-confidence, self-doubt, unresolved grief and loss, addiction, insomnia, low motivation and apathy, feeling "stuck", procrastination, chronic pain, and major life transitions.
